Peter Berkowitz, 25, is currently residing in San-Francisco and has housed himself inside a wooden box he calls a 'Pod'. The Pod is currently located inside his friends living room. He pays $508(£350) a month to his friend for the luxury of living inside the wooden box, which takes up a section of the living room space, reported by Peter from his blog.

The pod is equipped with:
- A Twin bed which doubles as a sofa due to its sturdy backboard.
- A foldable table, to eat meals and place his laptop on.
- Storage space to place clothing
- LED lights for nighttime reading

The 25-year-old, who currently works as an illustrator, built the 8 x 3.5 x 4.5 Pod with his friend he is staying with. The $508 a month is broken down to $400 a month to live inside the living room and a further $108 a month to help pay off construction fees of building the Pod, the wooden box in total cost $13,000(£9,000) to build. Wait! What? The wooden box cost $13,000 to build? Ridiculous.
The reasoning behind his decision to live in a wooden box is due to San Francisco's famous high rent and living costs. Peter Berkowitz, who is originally from Oakland, California, was previously paying $1000(£700) a month to rent out a bedroom, quite the saving in bills but a reduction in headroom.
At the end of Peter's blog he offers his assistance to anybody else who is suffering from high rent, with his services and aid in building their very own Pod, I'll pass.
