Richard Addy, 69, from Palm City, was cruising around Stuart, Florida, USA, for 6 miles before being stopped by the police and told that his wife was on top of his SUV screaming and banging on the roof of the truck, very noticeably, reported by The Smoking Gun.

Richard had reported to the police, that he and his wife were out on a night of drinking in a number of bars when he got into an argument with his wife and decided to leave without her. He had not realised that his wife had jumped on the roof of the car until he had reached a traffic light but didn't stop or get out of the car as he didn't have a phone with him to contact the police.

Mr Addy continued driving with his wife hanging on to the roof of his Toyota Sequoia for 6 miles before being stopped on the intersection of SE Monterey road and S Kanner highway. When the police stopped Richard, his wife Elizabeth Addy began waving and calling for the police's aid.

Richard Addy was arrested and faced charges of reckless driving and also received a citation of letting a passenger ride outside of the vehicle. The police officer also noticed a strong odour of alcohol on Mr Addy's breath but he currently has not been charged with drunk driving.
