
A 53-year-old man has been arrested for practicing dentistry without a license, Robert “Robbie” Rheinlander, claimed he was a dentist in South Carolina before moving to Palmetto, Florida.
A couple met with Robbie through a mutual friend, Robbie told the couple of him being a practicing dentist. The wife needed dental work, they paid Robbie to perform the procedure at home to keep costs low, Robbie extracted the tooth but a tooth fragment was left in the gum causing the wife to have further medical problems.
Unknown to the couple Robbie was only licensed as a dental technician during the years of 2004-2006 in South Carolina and had not gained a dentistry license.
The couple contacted Manatee County Sheriff's detective in September telling them of the incident. through investigation, the police found another possible patient who stated Robbie pulled out ten of his teeth without anesthesia and then made dentures for him.
The police set up a sting and an undercover detective managed to arrange a meeting with Robbie for him to perform some dental work.
Robert Rheinland was arrested and charged with practicing dentistry without a license, he is being held in Manatee County jail on a $1,500 bond.
